Validation of a novel integral disease index for evaluating the grade of activity in Mexican patients with ulcerative colitis: A prospective cohort study.
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic condition characterized by inflammation that affects the colon. To objectively and comprehensively measure the activity of the disease in patients with ulcerative colitis and thus optimize the pharmacological treatment, a new index of integral disease was created that includes the clinical, biochemical, endoscopic and histological characteristics necessary to accomplish that task. The objective of the present study was to validate the new index of integral disease in patients with ulcerative colitis.
Higher adenoma detection rate with the endocuff: a randomized trial.
Different techniques have been introduced to improve the vision of the endoscopist and improve the detection of polyps. The endocuff is a polymer sleeve cap that connects to the tip of the colonoscope to improve the visualization of the mucosa during colonoscopy. The objective of the study was to compare the adenoma detection (RAM) rates of endocuff-assisted colonoscopy and conventional colonoscopy.
Patients 50 years of age or older were randomized into two groups: an endocuff-assisted colonoscopy group and a conventional colonoscopy group without the endocuff.
Screening and surveillance of premalignant lesions and colorectal cancer
Colon and rectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of death. Evidence shows that screening in the population at risk reduces mortality. RCC is prevented with programs in the population at average risk (men and women 50 to 74 years old) and high risk (first-degree relatives, hereditary RCC syndrome and chronic inflammatory bowel disease).
Update of the Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Neuroendocrine and Gastroenteropancreatic Tumors.
In recent years, the clinical approach of neuroendocrine and neuroendocrine tumors gastroente-ropancreatic (NET-GEP). It has managed to provide a better prognosis for patients because their growth biology and characteristics are better known.
